VOTER REGISTRATION
If you have not registered yet in Clayton County, you may want to do so before the registration deadline on Friday, August 29, 2013.  This can be done by completing a registration form.  Although you are allowed to register and vote on Election Day, it will be more convenient for you to vote at the polls if you register before the registration deadline, otherwise you will be required to complete more paperwork prior to voting.  It may provide clarification as to the different precinct boundaries that are used for this election.  School precincts are not the same as city or county precincts.  Eligible voters don’t always know which precinct they should report to in order to vote.  If you meet the registration deadline, the Auditor’s office can complete the voter registration process and mail a Voter Registration Card to you, indicating your polling place for this election.  Persons that are already registered to vote do not need to re-register to participate in this election.

ABSENTEE VOTING
You may choose to vote an absentee ballot in person at the courthouse or by requesting a ballot through the mail.  If you would like to request an absentee ballot to be mailed, you can submit a request form to the Clayton County Auditor’s Office by stopping in or mailing the form to PO Box 416, Elkader, IA 52043.

Absentee voting at the Clayton County Courthouse takes place Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.  The last day to vote an absentee ballot is Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 11:00 AM.  The deadline is extended as the polls do not open until noon on Election Day.

SAMPLE BALLOTS
